  • Why are diamond scalpels better than metal?
    According to Dr. Christoph Kranemann, MD, "We conducted a retrospective study of 12,182 consecutive patients who underwent clear corneal phacoemulsifiction, comparing incision technologies." None of the patients in either group experienced an endophthalmitis or vascular occlusion. We found that the use of diamonds for the incision significantly reduced the rate of wound leaks and the amount of wound hydration resulting in lower early postoperative IOP’s and potentially dangerous IOP spikes.   • Will I need to learn a new technique?
    There will be a slight adjustment to the angle of the approach with the Clear Cornea Knife, however nothing that is not easily described and adopted.
  • How will we track the usage and/or cost per incision of the Nano Knife?
    The OptiCize prgram from TB Clift is designed such that tracking of usage and the assignment of cost per incision is unnecessary. OptiCize offers a capped yearly cost for the program, guaranteed up front.
  • How do you guarantee a sharp Nano Knife for every surgery?
    The OptiCize program has a dedicated education component for reprocessing staff. This education has been developed in consultation with a leading Canadian expert in Medical Device Reprocessing.
  • Will the Nano Knives cost more money?
    The OptiCize program positions the price of the Nano Knife to be, at a minimum, cost nuetral to current stainless steel blades.
